Again, welcome to our new website. We have been hoping to update our website for some time and now, through the efforts of many people, this is the result. We hope that you find this site to be helpful and informative. It is our intention to add more content as we are able and any feedback or suggestions that you might have about the website would be most welcome. (Email us here.)
The creation of this site began in earnest two years ago with the formation of a working group whose task it was to poll our monks, congregations, supporters and friends for information on what they would like to see in a website serving our Order. The result of that work was a comprehensive description of what a potential website might look like — while we were unable to implement all of their suggestions we hope that this site is a satisfactory beginning in making a website that meets the needs of those seeking information about us. Certainly, without the work of that earlier working group, this site would not be possible and we offer our gratitude to them.
Last fall we formed the website development group whose task has been, together with RM Haryo, to build this website; we hope that it will meet the needs of the Order and will communicate some of the diverse ways of expressing the Dharma and our practice that are found in our Order. The website was created by a number of volunteer monks and lay people and I would like to offer much merit and thanks to those who have volunteered time, thought and labor to this project.
One of the things that impressed me most about the life and teaching of Reverend Master Jiyu-Kennett was her ability to connect with such a great variety people: this ability seems to me to have been a profound expression of her generosity of spirit. Her legacy truly lives on in the combination of all who practice with the OBC today.
With bows and best wishes,
Rev. Leon Kackman for the website development group.
